I've noticed that there are a lot of SoShi groups being made these days, I'm glad people are sharing the SoShi love... But I'd appreciate it if you other SoShi club owners don't rip anything from this SoShi group of mine, which the mods and I of this group spend a lot of our spare time keeping you all up to date with the latest SoShi news ! Girl's Generation, otherwise known as So Nyuh Shi Dae (SNSD) is a nine member girls group formed by SM Entertainment in 2007. The group consists of Yoona, Tiffany, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Seohyun, Sooyoung, Jessica and Taeyeon.Other than Korean they can speak English, Chinese and Japanese. Tiffany and Jessica grew up in the States, Hyoyeon spent some time in Beijing in 2004 and Sooyoung first started off in the Japanese entertainment industry.
So Nyeo Shi Dae, or Girls' Generation, were so named in hopes that the group will take over the music world in Asia. Pre-debut, they were considered the girl counter-part to SM Entertainment's 13 member boy group, Super Junior. The group consists of members who speak English, Japanese, and Chinese in addition to Korean. Many of the girls have had prior experience in the entertainment world as actresses, VJs, singers, and models.
The group's debut single, Into the New World (다시 만난 세계), was released on August 2, 2007. Their single consist of 3 tracks and 1 instrumental. Their second track "Beginning" was a remake of the "2 blocks down" by the popular Swedish girl group Play. Their debut performance on SBS's Inki Gayo aired three days later on August 5.
After the promotion of Into the New World, the girls started to promote their first album with the song Girls' Generation (소녀시대), a cover of Lee Seung Chul's song. The last performance aired on KBS 2TV Music Bank, with the girls using the outfits they used on the cover shooting of their 1st album. Their third MV featured Donghae as the main character, as the girl's lover with the song, Kissing You. The first performance aired on SBS Inkigayo on January 13, 2007.
Lead Vocalist & Leader Birth name: Kim Taeyeon 김태연 Date of birth: March 9, 1989 (1989-03-09) (age 20)
Taeyeon was born in the city of Jeonju, North Jeolla Province. She graduated Jeonju High School of Art on February 5, 2008. Taeyeon, like the rest of her group, was professionally trained in singing and dancing. Taeyeon was discovered in the 2004 8th Annual Best Contest winning first place in the contest. In total, Taeyeon was trained for approximately three years. Taeyeon became a DJ on Good Friend Radio, which she co-hosted with Super Junior's Kangin until he left on April 19, 2009; she continues to host solo. She also contributed to a couple of soundtrack as a solo artist, singing the theme song "Manyage" ("만약에", "If") for the KBS2 drama Hong Gil Dong and "Deullinayo" ("들리나요", "Can You Hear Me") from the Beethoven Virus soundtrack. "If" became popular on various online charts, around the same time "Baby Baby" was released, while "Deullinayo" received the YEPP Popularity award at the 2008 Golden Disk Awards. She was featured on MBC reality-variety show We Got Married as part of the third rotation of couples; she was featured with comedian Jeong Hyeong-don. When this news was announced on January 7, 2009, it caused an uproar among South Korean netizens due to Girls' Generation's large fanbase and the 11-year age difference between Taeyeon and Jung.
Birth/English name: Jessica Jeong Korean name: Jeong Sooyeon 정수연 Date of birth: April 18, 1989 (1989-04-18) (age 20)
Jessica was born and raised in San Francisco, California, and is fluent in English. She released 2 singles alongside with SeoHyun and Tiffany: "오빠 나빠" ("Bad Oppa") and "Mabinogi (It's Fantastic!)". Jessica also stars in Kim Jo-han's music video "Love is Late, I'm Sorry" and is featured in 8Eight's song, "I Love You". In their second mini-album Genie, she had a duet with Shinee's leader Onew entitled "One Year Later" (1년 後 ). Jessica also released a duet with senior Park Myung Soo.
Stage name: Sunny Birth name: Lee Soonkyu 이순규 Date of birth: May 15, 1989 (1989-05-15) (age 20)
Sunny was a trainee under a different entertainment company before she transferred into SM Entertainment. After several months of training under SM Entertainment in 2007, Sunny debuted as a member of Girls' Generation that same year. She was a co-DJ of Reckless Radio along with Sungmin of Super Junior until the broadcast ended on the July 30, 2008. Sunny appeared in Super Junior-H's music video for "Cooking? Cooking!". Sunny also sang the song "Finally Now(이제서야)" on the soundtrack for the movie Story of Wine. She also co-hosts a music show called The M with SS501's Hyungjoon.
Stage name: Tiffany Birth/English name: Stephanie Hwang Korean name: Hwang Miyoung 황미영 Date of birth: August 1, 1989 (1989-08-01) (age 19)
Tiffany was born and raised in Diamond Bar, California and is fluent in English. She was discovered in the SM Starlight Casting System 2004 in Los Angeles and began her training under the label until the debut of Girls' Generation. Along with SeoHyun and Jessica, she released a single, "Bad Oppa" (오빠 나빠) and "Mabinogi [It's Fantastic!]". She was the co-host of Sonyeo Sonyeon Gayo Baekso (SSGB) along with Kim Hyesung from November 5, 2007 to June 13, 2008. She has also participated in live performances of rapper Nassun's single "Come to Play". She also sang the OST from "Ja Myung Go" "By Myself" and a duet with K.Will called "A Girl, Meets Love". Tiffany, along with Yuri, is currently the MC on MBC's Music Core.
Birth name: Kim Hyoyeon 김효연 Date of birth: September 22, 1989 (1989-09-22) (age 19)
Hyoyeon is regarded as the best dancer of SNSD and was BoA's silhouette during a dance break in BoA's "Over the Top" performance in MKMF 2005.
Birth name: Kwon Yuri 권유리 Date of birth: December 5, 1989 (1989-12-05) (age 19)
Yuri joined the label when she took 1st place in the 2001 1st SM Youth Best Dancer Contest. She appeared in TVXQ's "Beautiful Life" music video and had a small role as a ballerina in Super Junior's first movie, Attack on the Pin-Up Boys. She also had a small role in a television segment, "The King's Boyfriend," which was part of the 2005–2006 KMTV Super Junior documentary, Super Junior Show. Yuri also played a part in the sitcom Unstoppable Marriage alongside Sooyoung. Yuri is also the centerpiece of K. Will's music video "Dropping the Tears" and appears in the music video for "짜라자짜/JjaRaJaJja" by Ju Hyun Mi & SeoHyun (ft. Davichi). Apart from all her solo works, she is currently the co-host of Korean music program Music Core on MBC alongside Tiffany on Saturday nights.
Birth name: Choi Sooyoung 최수영 Date of birth: February 10, 1990 (1990-02-10) (age 19)
Before Sooyoung's audition to Girls' Generation, she made a brief debut in Japan as a singer in the group called Route φ. She first debuted with Marina Takahashi with the song "Start". She was previously a DJ of ChunJi along with Sungmin of Super Junior but was soon replaced by Sunny due to schedule conflicts. Sooyoung also played a part in the sitcom Unstoppable Marriage alongside Yuri and was also in a movie with Kang-in of Super Junior and actress Lee Yeon-hee. Currently, she is the MC of the TV program Fantastic Duo.
Birth name: Im Yoona 임윤아 Date of birth: May 30, 1990 (1990-05-30) (age 19)
Im Yoona was born in Seoul, South Korea. At a young age, she auditioned at the SM Saturday Open Casting Audition and joined the company in 2002. She began to train with the other trainees under the same company in the areas of acting, singing and dancing. During her training days, Yoona appeared on some music videos of other SM artists. She was trained in 5 years before debuting as part of Girls' Generation. Yoona made her debut as an actress in 2007 with the drama 9 Ends 2 Outs. In 2008, she acted in the drama Woman of Matchless Beauty before her first leading role in the daily drama You Are My Destiny. In the drama, Yoona played the role of an tough happy-go-lucky orphan Jang Saebyuk who received an eye cornea donation from a dying woman (Kim Nayoung) after she lost her sight due to an accident. Her fate became entwined with the woman's family who slowly accept her as a part of their family as time goes by. Yoona filmed her 2009 drama Cindrella Man alongside Kwon Sang Woo. She had her hair cut to fit her role as a mature fashion designer.

Seohyun is the youngest member of SNSD and is skilled in piano. She was a 2004 SMART Uniform Model with TVXQ. Along with Jessica and Tiffany, they released a single "오빠 나빠" ("Bad Oppa"), and "Mabinogi (It's Fantastic!)".
